Who we are

Corran Toohil Capital is an advisory and investment management company based in Sydney, Australia. Corran Toohill works with investors, R&D institutions, corporations and governments, principally in the US and Australia. The company was originally founded in Silicion Valley in 2006 and has worked on numerous buy, sell, business development and strategy projects in energy, infrastructure, telecom and information technology.

Paul Fox, Managing Director

Paul is the Managing Director of Coran Toohill.  He is also a Partner at the California Clean Energy Fund (CalCEF), a Silicon Valley venture capital fund. He recenlty returned to Sydney after 14 years building a global network in investing, energy and technology.  Paul has worked as an engineer, strategy consultant, CEO, fund raiser, deal maker and investor.

He combines operational experience in seven countries, early-stage technology marketing and finance, and deep networks in the investment, technology and energy industries. His background also includes electronic hardware and enterprise software, as well as turn-around and cost reduction.

Paul worked in Silicon Valley from 2000 to 2013, developing a huge industry network and strong reputation for integrity and value. In 2009 Paul was selected to join the prestigious Kauffman Fellows Program, which identifies, develops and networks the next generation of global leaders in venture capital.

At CalCEF he raised capital, led deal sourcing, managed technical and financial due diligence, built disciplined management processes, developed relationships with co-investors and corporations, and represented the Fund to investors and the public.

Paul founded the Corran Toohill business in Silicon Valley in 2006 after realizing the need for a bridge between Australia and Silicon Valley.

Prior to that, Paul was founding CEO of SC Power Systems, a smart grid company using superconductor technology from Australia. Under Paul’s leadership, the company developed a product, secured utility pilots in the US, acquired a company in Germany, and raised money from investors in Europe.

Paul led the international expansion of Singaporean electronics manufacturing company JIT Electronics. He then joined the CFO’s team at Flextronics after it acquired JIT Electronics in 2000. While there he was involved in M&A, ventures and special projects.

Prior to leaving Australia Paul was a strategy consultant working in the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors in Australia. Before that he held numerous operational roles culminating in being the national operations manager for one of Australia’s largest construction organizations.

Paul began his career building water and power systems in remote localities, winning kudos from the United Nations and Government of Papua New Guinea. He also invented and deployed a hydro-pneumatic pile driving system for use in wetlands.

Paul is active in the Clean Tech OpenANZA Technology Network and the Industry Council of the Electronics Supply Chain Association.

Paul has an MBA from Monash University, a Graduate Diploma from UQ, and a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours from the UNSW.

Paul enjoys technology, reading, travelling, judo, trying to surf, and spending time with his family.

 Angela Foley, Director

Angela Foley is an experienced researcher and administrator.  Angela has worked for Corran Toohill since 2006. She also worked as researcher and search editor at Yahoo Inc. in California from 2007 to 2012. Prior to that she was an attorney at Ebsworth and Ebsworth and Tress Cocks in Sydney. Angela served as an Associate (personal assistant) to His Honour Judge L.J. Downs, QC, of the District Court of New South Wales.

Angela holds a Bachelor of Law (University of Sydney) and was admitted to Supreme Court of NSW on 14 Dec 1994.  She studied German, French and Latin at Macquarie University.

Angela enjoys tennis, reading and travel.
